Look; I can play the piano

Roy Calloway, a pensioner from Swansea survived a stroke and later discovered he could play the piano having had no previous musical ability.
It reminds one of the stories of people coming round from unconsciousness only to find themselves speaking in a previously unknown foreign language. If it is true, Mr Calloway's experience is further evidence of the Davies Hypothesis's claim that our brains store information from past ancestral lives. As an embryo, nature fits each of us with a character, stored in the parent's DNA, possibly chosen to match a conception in the same time of the lunar cycle. If this inherited character was musical, able to play a keyboard instrument, for example, this skill would have been in the recipient's brain, waiting to be triggered by a trauma.
This inherited character might have lived many generations before, his or her innate traits tempered by the up to date mode of nurturing giving rise to a person of the present generation. However, be warned, the essential character may have no resemblance to those of the parents.

I'm angry with God

'I'm angry with God', said the young man, perhaps even a teenager, on television, as he surveyed the earthquake hit ruins of his village in central Italy.
Clearly, as a Christian, he was aware that he'd been let down; that the person who should have saved him and his family had forsaken them in their hour of need. Now, as he looked, it wasn't God that was revealing His mercy, it was the skilled men and women of the emergency services that were saving people and recovering the dead.
Ah! the God fearing might say, but God's work starts in the afterlife. That supposition didn't seem to be a comfort to the young man whose life hitherto had probably been sheltered from the often brutal reality of life. Now, as he looked at what was only 24 hours earlier a home to hundreds of people, he was aware for the first time of the fragility of life. One old lady had said when interviewed that, with her own home in ruins, she no longer trusted any shelter as the aftershocks continued to bring down properties.
The people of Aberfan might have had the same feelings of misgivings fifty years ago this October. How many parents felt 'angry with God'? For many the idea of a heaven may have been a comfort but there will be others that felt that their whole lives had been blighted by a God impotent to keep them and their family safe and that this manifest impotence was proof of the non-existence of a God.
I say to this young man. Do good, love your family and do not put your faith in a supernatural invention of people in awe of Nature. Follow always the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you and may you lead a happy life.

The ISIS manifesto

In this the latest edition of the ISIS in house magazine, Dabiq 15, I reproduce the Foreword in which Isis warns of more attacks against the west by "hidden soldiers of the Caliphate."

“Do they not see that they are tried once or twice every year? Yet they turn not in repentance, and they take no heed?” (At-Tawbah 126). After the attacks in Orlando (USA), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Magnanville, Nice, and Normandy (France), and Würzburg and Ansbach (Germany) led to the martyrdom of twelve soldiers of the Caliphate and the deaths and injuries of more than six hundred Crusaders, one would expect the cross-worshipers and democratic pagans of the West to pause and contemplate the reasons behind the animosity and enmity held by Muslims for Westerners and even take heed and consider repentance by abandoning their infidelity and accepting Islam. But the fever and delusion caused by sin, superstition, and secularism have numbed what is left of their minds and senses. Their hedonic addictions and heathenish doctrines have enslaved them to false gods including their clergy, their legislatures, and their lusts. As for worshiping the Creator alone and following His Final Messenger, then that is beyond their consideration. Instead, they wage war against what entails both their welfare in the worldly life and their salvation in the Hereafter. They wage war against their Creator, His word, His law, His Messenger, and His slaves. And they shamelessly confess their disbelief in His wisdom, mercy, and justice, by thinking that the Lord would abandon His religion and His slaves to the tyranny of His enemies and their evilness. And despite their wretched condition of ignorance and arrogance, we take this occasion of multiple massacres inflicted upon their citizens and interests to call them once again to the religion of pure monotheism, truth, mercy, justice, and the sword. Between the release of this issue of Dabiq and the next slaughter to be executed against them by the hidden soldiers of the Caliphate – who are ordered to attack without delay – the Crusaders can read into why Muslims hate and fight them, why pagan Christians should break their crosses, why liberalist secularists should return to the fitrah (natural human disposition), and why skeptical atheists should recognize their Creator and submit to Him. In essence, we explain why they must abandon their infidelity and accept Islam, the religion of sincerity and submission to the Lord of the heavens and the earth.

When will Western leaders wake up to the threat from Islam. World peace is not threatened by people from Canada, Scandinavia, the South Sea islanders or folk from Malta. Just about all the trouble in the world can be attributed to followers of Islam. Of course, all Muslims are not all involved in violence but one could say the same of many citizens of Nazi Germany. However many will rejoice, such is their brain-washing, in any success that Isis perpetrates against the West. The forces engaged with war against the West must be tackled with immediate effect; it will not go away. Appeasement will not work. The threat must be tackled ideologically and if that means that other religions are destroyed so be it.

Proof of the non-existence of God

'If you could reason with the faithful, there would be no faithful!'
So said one sage because, by definition, believers in a God follow a tradition of imagining what cannot be perceived as being the fount of all things. Their authority for doing so, in most, if not all, cases, rests on the interpretation of ancient scripts. By this means they are able to resist all arguments to the contrary, especially from empiricists or other scientists, and insist that their God is above all worldly constraints. Normally, in the practice of philosophy, the onus is on the proposers of a God to prove their case beyond doubt rather than to prove the opposite but such is their resistance to reason and logic, their resort to semantics and sophistry, it is impossible to properly debate the issue. It seems that their omnipotent Divinity cannot be relied upon to persuade all of mankind to accept His existence. The very existence of atheists ought to be enough to convince the faithful of God's impotence and therefore the fallibility of the argument but even this doesn't work because the believers say that God gave man 'free will' to commit, for instance, evil. So is there a way to settle the issue once and for all? Probably not but we'll give it go using the Davies Hypothesis.

One of the first ever books on cosmology is Genesis, part of the Bible. It opens with the sentence: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.' According to the Davies Hypothesis (DH) this is a clear and unambiguous statement of the duality of the universe. This duality was recognised in ancient time in Taoism, Manicheanism and Zoroastrianism to name a few. Indeed the Tao (fount of all being yet without being) emblem, the Taijitu, encapsulates this idea perfectly.
That the universe was brought into being from nothing has been postulated from ancient times from civilisations that preceded Christianity. The hebrew tribe, the Maccabees, for instance, held this view. But what do we mean by 'nothingness'?
We do not mean here the vacuum of space, inhabited by one atom of hydrogen per cubic metre, criss-crossed by neutrinos and other cosmic rays every second. The place is teeming with energy and forces such as that of gravity. No, the DH holds that 'nothingness' can be represented by 'zero', where it is defined as a state of absolute emptiness. It can be mathematically formulated as x-x = 0. That is, where there is a quantity, x, and the exact same is removed there is nothing, no remainder or residue. If x = y, then we can also state that x - y = 0.
It is worth stating here that the DH does not value zero as a normal number since one can't sensibly divide or multiply by it. It acts, simply, as a balance between negative and positive entities.

The state of absolute nothingness is called the 'Pleroma' in the DH and we see in the diagram, below, this state and the emerged dual universe depicted by the taijitu. This dual universe also sums to zero in every aspect.

If we accept that any creator of the universe must 'exist' outside of his creation, then this existence must be in the Pleroma. But since we have defined the Pleroma as a state of absolute nothingness, no remainder or residue, then there is no place for a Creator, actual or conceptual. Reductio ad Absurdum.

The cost of legal propriety

Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh were found guilty today of a heinous, pre-meditated crime of great ferocity and savagery. They murdered a sixty year old woman, Sadie Hartley, on the doorstep of her home, using first a stun gun and then a knife inflicting forty stab wounds on the victim.
The evidence against the two accused was said to be overwhelming so why then did the trial last seven weeks with all the attendant costs, not least the re-reimbursement of the jurors who had to sit through the details of this harrowing crime.
The public purse will now have to keep these women behind bars for many years at an estimated £400 per day each, but what of the trial itself. The women, presumably pleaded not guilty but on whose advice. Surely their lawyers would have advised that acquittal was impossible. Is there no provision in law for the judge to say that such a plea is unreasonable given the evidence thereby denying the accused their day in court to air their grievances and delight at their deeds. Were there mitigating circumstances, were the accused mentally unbalanced? I don't know but it strikes me that this trial demonstrates yet again why the public money grabbing legal profession, for all its claims to be the world best, needs to be trimmed. The cost of justice is unaffordable if obvious guilt is allowed to be set aside in favour of long trials with jurors. Jurisprudence is one thing; common sense is another.

Football; the new religion?

Whether you like football or not, it surely cannot be denied that the sport has captured the imagination of the world like no other. International companies have recognised the appeal of the English Premier League and bought a stake, using the world-wide appeal of teams like Liverpool and Manchester United to promote global brands. West Bromwich Albion are the latest Club to be taken over by a Chinese Company wanting to latch on to an internationally recognised name.
Although Countries around the world have their own teams and leagues, nothing compares with the iconic names of the top English Clubs. This popular following suggests to me that football, in particular the Premier League, is the new religion, with its icons (strips and scarves), saints (players) and creed (rules). Religion is no longer the 'opium of the people' as argued by Karl Marx; football is.

But what next? What happens when a Club is relegated? Will it be allowed to happen if a Company's massive investment is at risk? A Company buys into a Premier League Club only to find that the fixture list is not Arsenal or Chelsea but Burton or Dagenham and Redbridge, negatively affecting, for instance, share price.
In the future. will the really big clubs, owned by mega companies become dissatisfied with the Premier League populated by Hull and Everton and move to form an elite league that will consist of the top teams in Europe, like Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Already the core home fans are being disadvantaged. Matches do not universally kick off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon as before. Now matches are played at the behest of broadcasters meeting needs in five continents across many time zones, bringing the top Clubs huge fortunes in revenue. The rewards for success are so great that failure cannot be countenanced. The Clubs faced with this competition buy the top players paying massive amount of transfer fees and offering obscene rates of pay. Manchester United have recently paid Juventus £100m for Pogba, a British record fee but this record won't last for long as Clubs compete for the best. If we continue at this rate , polarisation will mean that England will have maybe six mega clubs, with the others fighting out for devalued domestic competitions.
It is impossible to see where this is going beyond ever increasing globalisation. Even the United States has joined the bandwagon with increasing interest and investment in LA Galaxy and New York City.
Maybe; just maybe this polarisation will mean that the top clubs will go off and do their thing and leave a rump of Clubs that belong to a different time; Clubs that recognise the need for genuine fans and maintain a playing staff that can be afforded by ordinary people.
